Shani's Fragmented Logs quest in the Flashpoint update looks simple on paper, but once you're boots-on-the-ground in Stella Montis, it turns into a route-planning test more than a firefight. A lot of players go in expecting a quick mission and get chewed up fast. The smart play starts before deployment. You need an Electrical Component from the jump, and while you can hunt one down in the field, crafting it in Speranza is usually the better call. If you've already been sorting through ARC Raiders Items and planning a safe loadout, you'll know this quest punishes sloppy prep. Bring a Safe Pocket augment too. If you get dropped early and lose that component, you're basically back to square one.
Start in the Robotic Sandbox
The first objective sends you into the Robotic Sandbox control area, where you need to repair a dead terminal. The good news is the layout gives you options. There are mirrored control rooms, A and B, so you don't have to force a bad path if your spawn is awkward. Just move carefully, check the angles, and don't sprint unless you have to. Once you find the terminal, insert the Electrical Component and let the system come back online. That clears the first stage. Sounds easy enough, but the real challenge is getting in and out without drawing every ARC unit nearby.
Restore power in the conduit room
Step two is less complicated, though it can get messy fast. You need to head for a conduit backroom outside the Sandbox and flip the power switch. These rooms are cramped, with pipes, narrow lanes, and barely any space to react if something pushes you. That's why people get trapped here all the time. If an ARC patrol drifts in while you're mid-move, the room suddenly feels tiny. Best approach is to slow down before entering, listen for movement, then hit the switch and leave without hanging around. You're not there to farm kills. You're there to keep the run alive.
The Cultural Archives is the real danger zone
The last step takes you east into the Cultural Archives, and this is where most runs fall apart. It's not just the ARC pressure. Other players pass through this area constantly, so you're dealing with PvE and PvP at the same time. You'll need to locate a service backroom and activate the main data terminal. That part is quick. Reaching it is the hard bit. Don't overcommit to fights, and don't assume a quiet hallway is actually safe. You'll notice pretty quickly that patience matters more than aim here. One rushed push can waste ten minutes of careful movement.
Why the quest is worth doing
Fragmented Logs is one of those missions that quietly teaches you how Stella Montis works. By the time you finish it, you've probably learned more about pathing, chokepoints, and risk than you would from a dozen random skirmishes. The reward from Shani, three Showstoppers and three Trailblazers, is genuinely useful, especially for tougher PvE moments later on. And since the quest progress sticks even if you don't extract, there's a bit less pressure than usual. Still, surviving the interactions matters. If you're trying to get through it with fewer headaches, keeping your gear organised and checking reliable player resources like U4GM can make the whole process feel a lot less punishing.
